Points on the curve are productively efficient, points inside the curve are inefficient (unused resources), and points outside the curve are unobtainable with current resources. Movements along the PPF show opportunity cost of reallocating resources, while outward shifts of the PPF show economic growth caused by technological progress, increases in labour supply, or capital investment.
