This unit progresses from foundational algebra to introductory calculus, building core skills you will use across all remaining A-Level mathematics topics. 2. Common Pitfalls
Wrong move:
Forgetting to check the discriminant and leading coefficient sign when solving quadratic inequalities

This leads to incorrect interval solutions, especially when the quadratic has no real roots or opens downward

Always confirm the number of roots and direction of the parabola before writing your final solution
