The width of each bar shows the share of the population in that age group. In the 0455 syllabus you are required to interpret a population pyramid, but you are not required to draw one.

Wide base (many children aged 0β14): a high birth rate and a large young population, giving a high youth dependency ratio β typical of a less economically developed country.
